Extrabiblical Revelation: Being Chained to the Ocean Floor (repost)

Here's a repost from August of 2018, back in the infancy of Things Above Us, that we think might encourage you today. Here in the DFW area, much has been made lately concerning Matt Chandler of The Village Church having encouraged his congregation(s) to seek extrabiblical revelation in the form of visual images. I thought … Continue reading Extrabiblical Revelation: Being Chained to the Ocean Floor (repost)

Book Review — The Liturgy of Politics by Kaitlyn Schiess

Think for a moment upon the things that have influenced your politics and the things that influence your politics in your daily and weekly routine. You read The New York Times every morning over breakfast and shriek with joy at the latest column from Maureen Dowd. Over lunch, you read Christianity Today. After dinner, you … Continue reading Book Review — The Liturgy of Politics by Kaitlyn Schiess

No More Holding Back — Kat Armstrong (book review, part 3)

Kat Armstrong's No More Holding Back: Emboldening Women to Move Past Barriers, See Their Worth, and Serve God Everywhere conveys a certain feminist, idealistic image of a Christian woman who seeks to live out all four aspects of the second greatest commandment. Extrabiblical Revelation: Being Chained to the Ocean Floor

Here in the DFW area, much has been made lately concerning Matt Chandler of The Village Church having encouraged his congregation(s) to seek extrabiblical revelation in the form of visual images. I thought I might relay to you my own story concerning a similar experience. As a matter of background, I was saved in 1997 … Continue reading Extrabiblical Revelation: Being Chained to the Ocean Floor

TLDR: The theology concerning the existence of a "carnal Christian" holds that a person can realistically come to true saving faith in Christ and continue to live an entirely unchanged life free of repentance or sanctification. This paper examines Romans 7:14 and 8:1–14 to demonstrate that Romans knows no such concept. A true Christian does experience progressive sanctification. Although the terms "free grace theology" and "lordship salvation" don't appear in the paper, this is ultimately the battle under discussion.
